It’s hard to describe just how small this PC is. If you want a fully-featured virtually silent machine in a tiny box, this is the one to go for!

Good things come in small packages

Apart from the tiny UltraNUC, the NanoQube is the smallest PC we offer. Unlike the UltraNUC, the NanoQube uses a conventional fully-featured motherboard, albeit a Mini-ITX sized one. The machine can accommodate one M.2 SSD and two 2.5” drives. And because we offer the latest power-frugal processors, it is cooled fanlessly. The power supply is a fully integrated unit so there are no black “bricks” to have lying around behind the PC. It has to be said that the fanned power supply is extremely quiet, as the fan rotates at only 500RPM making it virtually inaudible. It is only when the PSU is drawing 75% of it power does the fan exceed 1000PRM. This provides virtual silence for the vast majority of systems it would be used in.

Top Performance and Reliability

The PC can be configured to your exact requirements with plenty of options in terms of processor performance, memory and storage. At present the PC can be configured with a AMD 5000 series G-suffix processors and a selection of the 3000 series AMD CPUs (requires a graphics card). These new 5000 series APUs (Advanced Processor Unit) incorporate an updated graphics processor (compared to the 3000 series), as well as adding more cores and threads, which boosts overall performance and multi-tasking. This PC can also be configured with up to a whopping 64GB of DDR4 RAM and there is a large range of storage drives available.

HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 Built-in

The ASRock motherboard features one HDMI 2.1 and a DisplayPort 1.4 port, which means when paired with an AMD 5000 series APU it is easily able to output a resolution of 4096 x 2160 while running at 60Hz for flicker free images. This makes this motherboard and an AMD APU the perfect match if you are looking to drive a 4K TV/Monitor, as all the APUs available for this PC are equipped with Radeon Graphics for immersive visuals.

Graphics

AMD’s Ryzen 5000 series processors with a “G” suffix feature Radeon graphics built right into the CPU. The performance of the graphics on these processors out performs any other onboard graphics previously released. The number within “Radeon Graphics” indicates how many graphics cores each processor has. For example, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics 7, has a total off seven graphics cores. The larger the number the greater the performance.

It is important to note that not all AMD processors on this configurator have built in graphics. The easiest way to find out if the processor you require needs a graphics card is as follows. If the processor states “with Radeon Graphics”, then the processor has a built in graphics chip and therefore does not require a graphics card, meaning the HDMI port on the motherboard will work. If the processor states “Requires Graphics” then please choose a graphics card, you will find compatible graphics card under the section “PCI Express slot”. The HDMI port on the motherboard will not output a display if the processor does not have an inbuilt graphics chip.

Storage considerations

When specifying your new PC’s storage options using our system configurator below, you will be offered a choice of drives which vary by price and capacity. There are two primary types of storage. A conventional hard disk drive (HDD) offers huge storage capacity for a low price, but it won’t be especially fast and it will generate a certain amount of running noise since it contains a constantly-rotating spindle. A solid state (SSD) or a M2 drive on the other hand, offer tremendous speed and absolutely silent operation, but they cost more than an HDD for any given capacity.

So if you need a lot of storage space (for videos or large quantities of digital photos for example), then we would recommend an HDD. On the other hand, if you prefer silence and speed (especially boot-up speed), then an SSD or M2 drive would be a better choice. Of course you can have more than one drive, so you could have the best of both worlds by choosing one of each! We recommend that customers chose an SSD or M2 drive as a boot drive that contains the operating system and important programs and a conventional HDD to store other data, but remember that if you intend to have a totally silent PC you might want to forgo the HDDs all together as they will make some noise due to their moving parts.

The downside to this approach is that the new PC comes pre-loaded with a lot of “junkware” which bloats the operating system and can cause severe performance degradation.

Free hardware support and fully inclusive warranty

We offer free hardware technical support for as long as you own the machine. This support covers any hardware query or problem, including advice on maintenance and upgrades. We regret we can’t offer software support or training so we would recommend contacting the software vendor in this instance.

Our hardware warranty runs for at least two years and is “collect and return” meaning that you don’t need to worry about getting the machine back to us - we will instruct our courier to collect it from you on a day of your choosing, then after we have checked and repaired it we will send it back to you by express courier at our expense. In addition, unlike many other PC suppliers, we have an “open-case” policy which means you are free to open the machine and perform your own minor modifications or upgrades without worrying that your warranty might be affected.
